CUSTOM KEEPSAKES

This is the star keepsake at Pokidots, the one that started it all. This is a made-for-you, custom keepsake where you send me a clothing item or fabric, and I create a 12x16 inch keepsake for you, in the design you choose from the ones that are available. The custom keepsakes are popular to preserve outgrown baby clothes or blankets that are precious to you, however, they can be made with any valuable clothing item or fabric.

Where to start

You start by personalizing your keepsake in the personalization page which lists all the different styles available along with how each one can be customized. Once you know what you want, you select the choices you made during the checkout process, and order your keepsake. When I receive your order, I get in touch with you to email you a shipping label so you could send me the fabric you’d like me to use, and we go from there!

If you are undecided

About anything… Whether that was which item to use or which style to pick, don’t hesitate to email me, and I can give you recommendations at any time! You can also get a keepsake voucher, and redeem it when you’re ready. This way you know you will do it! Find the vouchers in the custom keepsakes shop.

If reading what others think before purchasing makes your decision easier, check out the reviews!

DIY KEEPSAKES

The DIY keepsakes are just as precious as the custom keepsakes, and you make them yourself at home, without sending me any outfits or fabrics. Isn’t that great? I created this collection to make these wonderful keepsakes accessible for more people; they come in a variety of styles and designs and make great, unique keepsake gifts.

BRIDAL KEEPSAKES

What a wonderful way to preserve the memory of a sweet day. The bridal keepsakes are made with a piece of your wedding dress. This could be scraps from the time you’re buying your dress and getting it altered or designed, or it could be from your actual wedding dress (or that of a loved one). Both ways are equally popular at Pokidots. Some brides “trash the dress” and set aside a part of it for me, others keep it for years and realize they don’t need it anymore, then they find me in their search for what to do with their wedding dress.

Sometimes the maid of honor, the bridesmaids, the mother of the bride, or her mother-in-law send me the scraps of the wedding dress to have the bridal keepsake created for her as a surprise after the wedding (because I will need her pictures of her at the wedding). I’ve recently created bridal keepsakes using a dress that was worn in the 60’s by my customer’s mom.

Whatever your case it, there is a way to bring your dream bridal keepsake to life!

The bridal keepsake is an illustrated portrait of the bride, in her dress, with part of the dress being made out of the actual wedding dress fabric. It’s gorgeous.

Where to start

If you have the dress or scraps/swatches of it, as well as photos of you (or the person in question) wearing the dress, you can go ahead and order your bridal keepsake; that’s all I need! Go to the bride page, and once you order, I will get in touch with you to email you a shipping label so you could send me what you have.

If you have the whole dress, I will need only a piece of it, and I will guide you how on cutting it after I see some photos.

If you are undecided

Or if you have a special request or a question, don’t hesitate to email me, and I can give you recommendations at any time!

SPECIAL OCCASION KEEPSAKES

The special occasion keepsakes’ process is just like the bridal keepsakes; the only difference being that the dress is not a wedding dress, but a special occasion gown or outfit. (See above.)

Where to start

The process is the same as the bride keepsakes: go to the bride page and choose the special occasion keepsake. If you have the outfit or scraps/swatches of it, and photos of you or the person in question wearing it, that’s all I’ll need. You can go ahead and place your order and I will contact you within a day to email you the shipping label so you could send me the fabric.

If you have the whole dress, I will need only a piece of it, and I will guide you how on cutting it after I see some photos.

If you are undecided

Or if you have a special request or a question, don’t hesitate to email me, and I can give you recommendations at any time!

Keepsake made from a white dress that a little girl wore at her father-daughter dance, made as a portrait of her

Lea’s special occasion keepsake, made with the dress she wore on her first father-daughter school dance. A special occasion indeed! Lea’s illustration is an imagined grown-up version of her. The fashion keepsake with custom illustration is the best-seller custom keepsake.

Memorial keepsakes as a gift for the loss of a mother. Made with mother-of-the-bride silk dress

This is a special occasion and also a memorial keepsake requested by my client to honor her mother who has passed several years prior. A portrait of mom, with a piece of the dress she wore at her daughter’s wedding makes a very precious keepsake that will be cherished for years. Watch the process and review.

MEMORIAL KEEPSAKES

Thinking what to do with a loved one’s clothes after death is often what leads people to Pokidots. The memorial keepsakes to honor the memory of a loved one who has passed have been requested more and more lately, and they make unique memorial gifts. There isn’t a specific listing for the memorial keepsakes, as any keepsake can be made with the items of a loved one who has passed. I’ve done memorial keepsakes with the Noble Mountains design (from the custom keepsake shop), as well as special occasion ones, and even bridal ones. Whether it will be considered a regular custom keepsake or a special occasion will depend on a few things, such as if a custom portrait is required, or the type of fabric to be used (see example photos). Memorial keepsakes can also be entirely custom pieces where I work with you to create something personal that is not currently available in the shop.

Where to start

The best way to start the process of a memorial keepsake is by emailing me with what you would like to do. I’d love to know whose memory you would like to honor, if the keepsake will be a memorial gift, and a description or photo of what you’d like to use would be helpful. You don’t have to have a precise idea of what you want to do; we can have a conversation, and I’m certain I can create something wonderful for you to preserve the memory of your loved one.

Examples of memorial keepsakes:

Gifts for loss of father, like this framed keepsake made with his shirt in the shape of mountains and valleys

A beautiful memorial keepsake made with my client’s late dad’s shirt. She chose to send me a private note which was added to the keepsake, for a feeling of closure or positive vibes. Her dad loved the mountains. The noble mountains/ocean waves style is available in the custom keepsakes shop and was made a memorial piece.

Remembrance gifts for the loss of mother like this personalized keepsake made with her clothes

My client chose to honor her late mother with a memorial keepsake using her blouse and favorite scarf. This is a portrait inspired by photos my client sent me of her mom. This is a special occasion keepsake that’s also a “multiple custom,” since my client requested 4 variations of it; personalized remembrance gifts for her father and brothers.

Memorial keepsakes are available for worldwide shipping.

MEMORIAL KEEPSAKES FOR CHILDREN

If you are looking to have a keepsake made to honor the memory of a child who has passed, please visit the Angel Child project, where I donate keepsakes to parents who have lost a child after birth.

CUSTOM DESIGN KEEPSAKES

A custom design keepsake is a deeply personalized keepsake designed and created for you, just like you want it to be. If you have a specific design in mind or a meaningful memory you’d like to preserve in a way that you didn’t find in the custom keepsake shop, this is the piece for you! Anything can be customized and personalized, from the illustration to the size of the keepsake.

Where to start

The best way to start the process of an entirely custom keepsake is by emailing me with a description of your project. I’d love to know what you would like to capture, and whose item you will be using in your keepsake. Any supporting photos will be useful as well. A conversation will be started and I will work with you to design the piece that will keep your memory alive for a long time. A price quote will be offered for your keepsake before we begin.

If you are undecided

About anything… Whether that was which item to use or how exactly to design it, don’t hesitate to email me! I will ask you questions that will help you figure out what kind of keepsake will make you happiest.

Examples of custom keepsakes:

Custom and personalized keepsake made with sentimental clothes that are hard to let go of, as a family portrait that includes pieces of the clothes

Kristina gifted this custom keepsake to her mom, made with a toddler coat her mom got her when she was little, and that her two daughters also wore decades later. The keepsake features Kristina, her mom, and her two daughters, and was designed by both Kristina and I to bring her vision to life. This is a larger piece, 16x20 inches. More about it here.

Personalized keepsake in the shape of a city skyline made with baby clothes and hat

Miles’s keepsake was custom-requested to match the beautiful mural his dad painted in his nursery. This keepsake was made with Miles’s pajama, his newborn cap, and even slippers.

Custom design keepsakes up to 16x20 inches are available to ship worldwide. Larger keepsakes can be shipped within the US.

PREMIUM KEEPSAKES

These are true luxury custom keepsakes: quite larger than the custom keepsakes, and professionally framed and packaged. Tell me what you have in mind! This is the super-high-end keepsake choice.

The artwork size is 12x16 inches (compared to 8x10 on the custom keepsakes), printed on the best-quality fine art paper, with archival inks. The final piece is professionally framed in a deep shadow frame of 18x22 inches or larger, using a white acid-free mat, and TruVue Museum Acrylic glazing. This piece’s design is also entirely custom, and I highly recommend it to be a fashion keepsake.

Where to start

The best way to start the process of a premium keepsake is by emailing me with a description of your project.

A lot of communication with you will be required for this one to make sure you get the luxury piece you want. The price of the premium keepsake reflects its high-end status and the turnaround time is usually about 8 to 10 weeks (considering that the fabric to be used is received within the time frame of one week from ordering).

If you are undecided

About anything… Whether that was which item to use or how to bring your vision to life, don’t hesitate to email me! I will ask you questions that will help you figure out what kind of keepsake your heart desires.

An example of the premium keepsake:

Personalized keepsake and fashion custom portrait of a woman in a designer dress with sequins, a gift to honor mother

An incredibly special keepsake I created for my mom with a designer fabric she gave me a long time ago, that she loved so much. The final frame size on this one is 20x24 inches. I chose to draw her in black and white, inspired from a photo taken in the time I remember her most in my life. Lots of tears ensued when I gave it to her, and this piece will be in the family for generations.

Large premium keepsakes are available to ship within the US.

MULTIPLE CUSTOM KEEPSAKES

Multiple custom keepsakes is what you would order if you need keepsakes to be created for multiple members of your family, or for your bridesmaids, for example, usually using the same fabric.

The multiple customs can be any of the above custom keepsakes, but times 2 or more. The pieces are entirely custom, and there are levels of how much that can be. If, for example, you want to order multiple pieces as personalized bridesmaids gifts, where each keepsake is inspired by its recipient, each illustration and keepsake will be different for each bridesmaid. If you would like to make more “copies” of one keepsake for different people, then the base illustration would be the same and the fabric work would be unique for each piece. I will work with you on design and pricing, and will offer you a “bundle” discount.

Where to start

Start soon, because the timeline will be adjusted depending on how many pieces you would like! The best way to start the process of multiple custom keepsakes is by emailing me with what you would like to do. I’d love to know what you are hoping to capture, whose item(s) you will be using in your keepsakes, and who they will be gifted to. I will work with you to create the pieces that will keep your best memories alive, and make you shine as a gift-giver :)

Examples of multiple custom keepsakes:

Personalized keepsakes with custom illustrations made with a vintage raincoat and framed

Jocelyn sent me the raincoat her mom had when she was younger, and passed down to Jocelyn. She wanted to capture the time when they both wore the raincoat, when they were in their 30’s, decades apart. This is an example of multiple custom keepsakes where the 2 illustrations are different. It is considered a special occasion keepsake as well, because the raincoat on the keepsake is a mini “replica” of the original, down to the metal buttons! Read more about this keepsake here.

Personalized keepsakes with custom illustrations made as gift for the loss of mother, unique memorial gifts given to family members of the deceased

This is again, a keepsake honoring my client’s mother, made as a portrait of her and crafted with the blouse and scarf she loved. This is an example of multiple custom keepsakes that have the same original illustration, and is considered a fashion keepsake with custom illustration (as opposed to special occasion keepsake) because the dress is not a copy of an original dress, but a style created with the sentimental items my client sent me. The wings on the illustration are optional.

Multiple custom keepsakes up to 16x20 inches are available to ship worldwide, and to different addresses as needed.

There is no limit to the designs you can make and the stories you can tell with these gorgeous, highly personal keepsakes. It’s a wonderful way to display a part of your journey, and I’m here for it!
