Honoring mom with a beautiful, memorial keepsake. Or more.
This one is a very special one because it was ordered by a friend of mine.
My friend Rana's mom passed away recently. I can’t imagine the grief the loss of a mom can create, but no matter how old you are, and especially if you’ve had a close relationship like that of Rana and her mom’s, this kind of loss is sure to leave a great void. Rana told me that the first thing that came to mind for her to honor her mom’s memory, was a Pokidots keepsake.
She sent me a shirt her mom loved to wear and which she had sewn and hand-embroidered herself, as well as a beautiful, colorful scarf of hers. She also sent me old and new pictures of her mom, and asked for 4 keepsakes: one for herself, one for each of her two brothers, and one for her dad.
I didn't know Rana's mom, though I found out during the past weeks that she was a brilliant artist and seamstress, and she was deeply loved by everyone who knew her. Last week was Mother's day (for Lebanon) and the first year Rana spends it with the memory of her mom.
I had told Rana I would be ready to send her the keepsakes in the beginning of April, but as Mother’s day approached, I thought it would make a beautiful surprise. So I hastened and sent them right on time.
It was a great pleasure for me to honor this woman's memory for her family. Rana's response to the keepsakes is what makes me passionate about what I do. Keep scrolling to see more photos of the process.
Rana cherished her keepsake and she had a hard time choosing the one she will keep for herself. She then sent the others to her brothers and her dad, and they all were so touched by their memorial gifts and treasured them so much.
